Speech Therapy

Speech Therapy Services:

Speech therapy is a discipline that assists people with all areas of communication and swallowing. It includes articulation, use of language, voice, fluency and swallowing.

At Beverley Park Kids Incorporated, the speech therapists role is mainly related to providing each individual student with a method of communication that he or she can use in everyday situations. This may include voacalisiation, Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), using an app on an iPad, using pictures to communicate, using sign language or one of many other methods of communication.

The goal of intervention is to help students with their communication of their their wants and needs and with their ability to socialise and engage in activities within their school and wider community.

Services that are practised at Beverley Park Kids Incorporated include:

  • Augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) including:
  1. Picture exchange communication system (PECS) implementation
  2. Pragmatic organisation of dynamic display (PODD) implementation
  3. Language Acquisition through Motor Planning (LAMP) implementation
  • Social skills groups
  • Social stories
  • Visual timetables
